ABOUT ERICA

Erica

Erica Mather, M.A., has been a teacher and counselor all of her adult life. Trained as a yoga instructor by the renowned yogi Ana Forrest, Erica's yoga sessions are fun, compassionate, challenging and designed to open both body and the mind. Her warm and inviting personality fosters an environment where clients feel safe learning and growing.

Erica's own commitment to healing began five years ago at the onset of adult migraine headaches. Adopting the perspective that illnesses are gifts from which we learn about ourselves and the nature of existence, she began a period of intense self-inquiry, initiated through yoga practice and extending into spiritual study and the cultivation of a total healthy lifestyle. She is tremendously grateful for the gift of this awakening.

Erica's first cooking memory is of her sister teaching her to make chocolate chip cookies. Her love of sweets and desserts extends into her adult life, but now with more experimentation and exploration as she searches for and finds nourishing foods from both traditional diets and modern dietary movements. Her curiosity about nutrition crystallized after college when she intuitively discovered that, for her, a diet high in fat and low in wheat and other grains led to weight loss. These dietary habits ran against everything she had been taught which encouraged her renegade spirit to follow the first tenet of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition: "Question what you're told." Erica delights in sharing her curiosity and dietary experimentations with others. In her holistic health counseling work Erica specializes in weight loss, unique dietary needs and emotional eating issues.

Erica is also a professional musician, and loves to dance, sail and ride horses.
