For many years I struggled with weight, and a contorted relationship with food and my body, always dreaming of a way out. You may not be surprised to hear that restricting myself never worked for long at all, and that every food restriction I put myself through paved the way for an inevitable overeating backlash. That said, I was determined to learn how to reach a point of balance – with my body weight, my relationship with food and my overarching peace of mind - for good. Through the teachings I encountered, I shed twenty pounds in a way that was, to my great surprise, both pleasurable and fun, and consequently a lasting, sustainable solution. Based on my experience working with clients since 2002, I have developed the proven Animal Instinct Diet. The irony of this diet is that is “not a diet at all” in the conventional sense of the word. Rather than utilizing portion control or the restriction of calories, this approach works by awakening the natural animal instincts that are already present inside you, those that can lead you directly to weight loss. I look at the full picture of health, observing how you relate with food and your lifestyle choices. As depicted in the diagram, below, I investigate the inextricable links between literal edible food and what I call the "primary food" that nourishes your life. Primary food refers to career, exercise, relationships and spirituality. Just as it can be difficult to find energy to exercise when your diet is lacking, it is hard to eat well when you are unable to take a break for lunch, and even harder to think or work effectively when you don’t have quality fuel in your tank. I'm someone to hold you accountable and help you figure out the practical details required to translate your good ideas into reality.
